Preparing for Surgery

Preparing for Your Surgery

Your Surgeon will book your procedure in the hospital booking system and you will be notified of your surgery date. A clerk from the Operating Room Scheduling Department will contact you two days before your scheduled procedure to tell you when you should arrive at WDMH.

For some procedures, a Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic (PAC) visit or phone call will be scheduled about two weeks before your surgery. Your PAC visit or phone call will include an assessment by a Registered Nurse and an assessment by a Physician Specialist in Anesthesia. You may also be required to have blood work or other testing completed.

The PAC Registered Nurse will give you information about your surgery and what you can expect. They will review the patient information handout(s) that you will keep and bring with you on the day of your surgery.

You are encouraged to involve your care partner with you to the PAC visit.

Visit the Learn More About Your Procedure section for further information.
