Confident in Care. Grateful for Community. 2025-2026 Highlights
June 30, 2026
It has been a year of
confidence and gratitude at Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
WDMH remains confident in
its people, its care, and the path ahead, while staying deeply grateful for the
community that continues to stand behind it.
At the June 23 Annual
General Meeting, WDMH looked back on a strong year. More than 93,000 visits
took place, and most patients reported a positive experience. The hospital also
achieved the highest level of Accreditation, meeting more than 99 percent of
standards and continues to provide safe, high-quality care close to home.
This work is made possible
by people. With more than 900 staff, physicians, midwives, volunteers, and
students, WDMH is nearly fully staffed, helping to create stability across
teams and a strong patient experience.
Care continues to grow in
the community. New services such as neurology, pediatric surgery in partnership
with CHEO, and ophthalmology were added this year, bringing more care closer to
home for patients and families.
WDMH is also planning for
the future by supporting research, running clinical trials, and growing its
Family Medicine Residency Program to train future healthcare providers and
bring new ideas to rural care.
The hospital continues to
run efficiently and use its resources carefully. The year ended with a positive
operating result, reflecting thoughtful planning and strong stewardship.
Looking ahead, WDMH will
continue working to improve access to care, support the emergency department,
explore new tools like artificial intelligence, and plan for expanded services
such as MRI.
This work is supported by
many partners. WDMH is grateful for the Foundation, Auxiliary, Patient and
Family Engagement Committee, and the many community members who support local
care.
There were also changes to
the Board of Directors. Michelle Perry and Bruce Millar completed their
nine-year terms, and new members Aram Kerkonian and Jacinta Yelle were
welcomed. The Board Executive includes Chair Annik Blanchard, Vice Chair Eric
Stevens, Treasurer Kelly Goulet, and Quality Committee Chair Andrea Jewell.
WDMH is guided by a committed Board of Directors with strong ties to the
community. The full list of members can be viewed here: https://www.wdmh.on.ca/meetourboard
WDMH continues to move
forward with confidence and gratitude, providing compassionate care today while
building a strong future for care close to home.
