The latest
Commitment Award winners at Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) have
been described as dedicated team members who inspire innovation and learning,
and that have a ‘never give up’ attitude towards patients, colleagues, and the
community! Congratulations to Dr. Patricia Toomey, Chief of
Obstetrics & Gynecology, Brittany Boucher, RN, the WDMH Research Team and
Volunteer Carol Dawley.
Volunteer Carol
Dawley is a shining example of WDMH’s
commitment to compassion, excellence, and teamwork through her dedicated
service as a volunteer. Her nominator shares, “Carol’s positive attitude and
willingness to help wherever needed make her a true asset to our hospital
community.” Whether onboarding new volunteers,
supporting administrative tasks, or organizing the hospital archives, Carol
approaches every responsibility with care, respect, and a collaborative spirit.
Her adaptability and innovative thinking make her an invaluable part of the
team.
Dr. Patricia Toomey is a highly respected leader
within the Family Birthing Team who stepped into the role of Department Chief
during a challenging period marked by recruitment challenges. She works very
hard to maintain department operations by covering shifts, recruiting staff,
and collaborating with external partners to prevent closure. As one colleague
shared, “Dr. Toomey is a dedicated physician leader, all while providing
exceptional care to her patients.”
WDMH’s Research Team has demonstrated their dedication
to advancing medical knowledge while supporting both patients and staff. Their
thorough coordination of clinical trials ensures a smooth experience for
participants and upholds the highest standards of safety and care. One staff
member shared, “They launched a Catalyst Grant which allows us, the hospital
staff, to lead our own research projects. It is very empowering.” The Research
Team’s commitment to research and collaboration is helping to shape the future
of patient care at WDMH by fostering a culture of innovation and learning.
Registered Nurse Brittany Boucher exemplifies commitment to
professional growth and patient care. By successfully completing the Critical
Care course while working full-time at the bedside, she has demonstrated a
passion for advancing her clinical expertise. Her achievements are not only
enhancing the quality of care she provides but also set a powerful example of
lifelong learning for her peers. Her nominator noted, “Brittany’s drive to grow
professionally while delivering excellent patient care is truly inspiring.”
The
WDMH Commitment Award shines a light on individuals or teams that demonstrate
the values that result in compassionate excellence.
