Only Hospital in Canada: WDMH Lands Federal EV Funding
February 04, 2026
The way people
travel in our communities is changing, and WDMH is proud to be part of that
change.
Thanks to
funding from the federal government’s new Automotive
Strategy, WDMH has received $100,000 to help install 20 new
electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
In fact, WDMH was the only hospital in Canada to receive funding through
this program, which is investing more than $97 million in clean transportation
projects across the country.
So far, 10
chargers have been installed and are ready to use, with the remaining 10
expected by the end of the summer. Once
complete, these stations will make it easier for patients, visitors, staff, and
community members to charge their vehicles while they’re at the hospital.
These installations reflect WDMH’s commitment
to sustainability, innovation, and ensuring our hospital remains accessible and
welcoming for everyone we serve.
