The office is located on the first floor of the Hospital, near Registration. The cashier will settle payment for hospital charges not covered by OHIP including room differentials. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4: 30 p.m. (summer hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). The office accepts cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard, or debit. People living in Ontario with valid health cards are covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Program (OHIP) and are entitled to standard ward accommodation placement in a room designed to accommodate 3 to 4 patients. Television and telephone services will be provided at no additional charge. You may upgrade your room, if available, to:
- Semi-Private: a room designed to accommodate a maximum of 2 patients
- Private: a room designed to accommodate 1 patient
As a patient, it is your responsibility to check your insurance coverage before coming to the Hospital. OHIP does not cover extra costs such as an upgraded room, but your insurance company may cover all or part of the costs of an upgraded room. You will be responsible for payment of any amounts not covered by your insurance provider.
Patients without a valid health card will be responsible for payment prior to discharge.
If you have requested an upgraded room, we will make every effort to accommodate your request as soon as possible. There may be times when your choice of room is not available when you request it. You will be moved to your choice as soon as a room is free.
