Coronavirus Updates

WDMH may look a little different – but our commitment to caring for you hasn’t changed!

WDMH will begin doing some non-urgent surgeries, endoscopies, and ambulatory/outpatient services in the next few weeks. Priority will be given to patients with the most pressing needs. Patients will be called to rebook their appointments. If you need urgent care, please go to the Emergency Department.

This resumption of services will be very gradual, over weeks, and possibly months. We are collaborating with other hospitals in the region to meet the provincial requirements. For example, we need to have enough personal protective equipment (masks, gowns) and we need to ensure that there is room in the hospitals should the number of COVID-19 cases increase.

At WDMH, a few things have changed due to COVID-19. Everyone is now screened at the door. All staff and physicians are wearing masks. And we have increased the number of hand sanitizing stations throughout the hospital. We want our patients to feel safe when they come to WDMH – and we have taken every precaution to ensure that.

We look forward to seeing more patients soon.
