
The Winchester District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has provided services for patients and the community since its inception. The Auxiliary consists entirely of volunteers, men and women as diverse as our community that include homemakers, retirees, students, and seniors.
Originally created to make patients' stays more comfortable and to assist in providing funds for equipment and furnishings, the WDMH continues to fulfill this important function and more. The Auxiliary is guided by the Hospital Auxiliaries Association of Ontario's mission statement, which reads:

"... we are advocates of community partnerships in the support of healthcare in Ontario through education, fundraising opportunities and the promotion of volunteer services to people."
The WDMH Auxiliary, through its standing committees, engages in the following activities: In Memoriam, Nominating, Historical, Purchasing, Constitution & By-Laws, Awards, Social & Special Events, Adult Volunteers, Sunshine Circle, Press Reporter, HELPP Lottery, and Gift Shoppe.
The Sunshine Circle volunteers have provided joy and uplifting weekly therapeutic sessions to patients since 1982. Local guests are invited to sing, dance, recite poetry, and share items of interest to help brighten patients' days.
The Auxiliary through its numerous fundraising events (such as the Spring Dessert & Card Party, the annual Fall Bazaar, the Gift Shoppe, HELPP, and the In Memoriam fund) has purchased numerous pieces of equipment for the hospital such as:
- Patient lifts
- Colonoscope
- Electric beds
- Vital signs monitors
- Examination tables
- Defibrillator & Monitor
- Anaesthetic machines
- Mammography equipment
- Furniture for various public & private rooms just to name a few.
The Auxiliary also operates the Gift Shoppe, located on Level 1 next to th
e Cafeteria. The Shoppe offers a wide range of gifts, clothing, and sundries; all proceeds from the Shoppe are used for equipment purchase.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month from September to June, beginning at 1:30 pm in the Dillabough Professional Centre Upper Level Conference Room.
